I ordered tires and made a appointment so I would be sure to get them put on. I go on the day of the appointment and they never even ordered my tires!! Made up some excuse not to go to Norfolk that day to get them and said they had to order them from SC and now I have to pay for shipping. They never called or made an attempt. I surely wouldn't trust them with brakes.... YIKES!!! Why are they telling customers they are going to do the job? They are c are car tires and they were going to cost me 3X more than what I could get them online. Ripoff

Kramer Tire - Car Inspection Review from Newark, New Jersey

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is for the kramer tire in Suffolk, Va. I went I for a very simple state inspection, and came out of pocket about 90 bucks. All of it was completely bogus to boot! I drop my car off, but before I do, I check everything out that I can without using tools, lights, tires ect... Everything that I see works properly. I give them the keys and I leave to go eat. I come back 45 minutes later and I see the truck in the shop. I'm like okay they are working on it. I go inside where I barely manage to sit down before the guy comes up to me and says I need a headlight adjustment, and telling me that my fog lights do not work. I'm already suspicious because an hour before this, I checked all my lights in their parking lot! So I told the guy that they worked out in your parking lot before I came in. He's like well, no they don't. So they told me that I would have to have them removed in order to pass. I'm pressed for time so I say just do it. This time I go into the bay where my truck is behind held. The mechanic spends 4 minutes ( I timed him ) to *** both fog lights. And I get charged 40+ bucks for that!? Are you kidding me? I should have told him to just fail it and I'll go somewhere else. But anyway I digress. When I got home I decided to look at my wiring for my fog lights. Not even a whole minute later, I notice the problem. That punk *** mechanic took some kind of cutting tool and he sliced once of my wires to my pig tail harness, right at the connector. So I take my connector apart and redo the wiring and lo and behold, my fog lights work again. Kramer tire in suffolk va will resort to physically damaging your vehicle in order to get more money out of you. Please avoid this shop like the plague. I will be contacting state police to have them investigated for they way the do business. I WILL have their state inspection license pulled.

Waited forever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
2 tires 2 and a half hours . I was told it would be done in an hour after calling and being told over the phone you would get me right in.i had my baby girl with me groceries in hand planning to be home in time to get her some lunch and put my milk in the fridge.Went for an hour walk came back car still on the lift untouched. When I talked with the guy he said they had trouble with the alignment totally bogus because it wasn't even on the alignment machine till after I sat there with warming milk a hungry daughter watch my car sit on a lift and not get worked on. Needless to say I don't think I will be returning.

Practically theft

The guy at the counter was nice enough and the oil change was a decent price HOWEVER, the estimate they gave me for the parts i needed was grossly overpriced! They were going to charge me several hundred dollars just for the parts (not including labor.) I was able to go to advanced auto and buy the parts i needed for a total of $48! Then I found someone on craigslist who has their own shop and they put the parts in for $80. Im pretty disgusted that they lied about the price of the parts. I suggest always doing research on the actually price of what you need. I would rather spend $130 than have $600 practically stollen from me.

Nothing was "stolen" from you. You didn't like the price so you went a different way.

All shops mark up parts. If a shop or a contractor etc. quotes you a firm price for something and then doesn't provide the agreed goods or services or charges you more after the quote, then it may be a rip off.

However, simply charging more than you think is fair, is no theft at all. It is a difference of opinion.

Why are they still in business?

Today, I was the second customer waiting for Kramers to open up and I waited and waited still they didn't open. I ended up going across the street to Tread Tires and greeted with a very nasty attitude. Omg I have spend my hard earned money to keep my car on the road and I get treated like ***. Don't these knot heads women spend just about the same amount of money to get their car fix. Btw a new flash there are some women that knows about their cars and its issues. If they don't get their stuff together my family and I will be forced to find services somewhere else.

An "Accident"

Bought 2 tires for $177 total . checked my bank account and they charged me 4x ! for a total of $708. when confronted , was told to wait it out , and that the other three pending p.o.s. weren't going to stick. treated like the villain for inquiring the location of my money . No one wants to help me fix the problem. but the Army will , never make the same mistake twice . This is why I don't bother . with the auto industryie the mechanics. Nothing ever is just a simple transaction when it comes to framers . They had me waiting in there with my son for hours just to replace two old tires with two new ones . I can't stand Newport News sometimes . Good city , bad people .

Oil change

Went and had the oil changed on a vehicle, mentioned this is the first time since 1998 that I have not done it myself to all my vehicles because of the fly by night operations out there. Well, low and behold, get my car back, since I have always maintained the car, I know what looks right and what doesnt. The oil pressure was well above what it normally runs at. Went and checked the oil and it was 3/4 qt over the full line. Typical BS, thanks for nothing, seems you hire some really *** people. I really should blame myself, I should have known better, no one gives a *** about doing anything right anymore.

Did not help

I purchased rims and tires a few years back. I just realized, thankfully before I had a flat, that I lost my rim wheel lock. I went to Kramer with all my paperwork proving I purchased them there with an order form. All I asked was that they let me know which one to order. The lady at the counter said "We do not do that" and referred my elsewhere. I went to the place they referred me to and they said that they could break off the lug nuts at $50 per tire and put on regular ones. I went elsewhere, where I will now purchase tires and rims from now on and they spent 5 minutes measuring my lug nuts and finding the correct one to fit, so I could order the correct one from the order form that Kramer Tire put in with my paperwork. They did not even charge me, though I would have paid for the 5 minutes of help.

Just plain bad

Updated by user Sep 03, 2011

This was the Nimmo Location.

Original review Sep 03, 2011
I bought tires from Kramer a few months ago...they were a little more expensive, but close to home. While I was standing t the counter I heard the manager yelling at the counter guy for not selling someone (me?) more expensive tires and then mention how he had failed to sell new tires to a woman who came in for a flat. The counter guy then came over and griped to me about his boss. Weird. When I went back to pick up the car I was given the hard sell by the manager about Road Hazard protection. When I declined I was made to feel like I was *** fr not doing it. Just yesterday I went in to get a flat repaired (different car - would not have been covered for road hazard ;)) - it's 30.99 at Kramer. There was a long line so I went up the street to Merchant where they charged 19.99.

Installed Bad Tires!

I purchased 4 tires from Kramer Tires on Military Hwy. My daughter had been driving to and from Nags Head to Norfolk all summer on old tires with no issues. We paid almost $1000 for 4 new tires. The manager told us one of the rims was slightly bent and may need to be replaced soon. Also that the brakes would not pass state inspection, which they did the following week! The day after getting new tires, I got a flat but not on the alleged bent rim. Took the vehicle back to show them where their machine had bent a different, they deniedit and had to pay another place $150 to fix the rim. Last night in the hurricane a different tire blew out on the freeway! Completely shredded the brand new tire. These people adamently refused any comensation or solution. Do yourself a favor and go to any other shop for tires. Going to suggest to the military installations to make off limits.

Kramer Tire --- Price Gougers

Kramer Tire is price gouging its customers My horrible experience with Kramer Tire this week. 1990 F-350 Drag Link Replacement Drag Link costs $25-85 at advance auto, autozone, ebay, etc. MOOG top of the line part costs $85. Price at the Ford Dealership: $90.01. The average price of this part across retail was $66.50 for a Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) quality part. Kramer charged me $155.75 --- OUTRAGEOUS mark up ---- well in excess of 100% which is unacceptable by any measure. Then they have the audacity to argue that there is "Nationwide Warranty" and that's why the part costs so much --- now that's about as nonsensical an argument as I've ever heard given the fact Kramer Tire location are only in/around the SE Virginia area. Avoid these rip off artists!!! Take you business elsewhere.

I've used Kramer for the last several years & yes they are price to high,Customer service has dropped dramatically.I purchased tires in 2010 only to be informed after the fact that brand wears fast.ok.Purchased two new tires in Aug.2011. July 2012 had a air leak in a new rear tire on Fri.

I put air in tire,by morning leaking again with a bubble in the side wall to boot.Took vehicle to Kramer on Saturday afternoon, told it would be 4hrs b4 they could check tire. This Kramer closes at 7pm it was 5:45pm I called.they were jus pulling it in.got a call back at 6:50pm they didn't have my size tire. They kept the truck over nite.Sunday they informed me that the 17in spare was put on (my truck has 22in tires on it) I definately wasnt driving it with that size difference in case of possible avoidable damage. The attending clerk said they'll try to find a 22in tire.Try?!!! Really? 22in tires are not uncommon.A friend drives by the Kramer location& recognizes my truck the door was ajar truck unlocked! He shuts it.Couldn't a stranger have rummaged through my vehicle?

Yes! That's not professional at all.As of Monday from the previous Saturday I still don't have my vehicle.Because a Nationwide Tire chain can't find a 22 inch tire?

Did they even try?!! I won't be using Kramer again. The past few dealing with them I've been out right lied to,overcharged, inconvenienced to many times, ignored by clerks.I'd say shop around b4 using Kramer.

they are a rip off but the warranty is covered through any goodyear shop nationwide. yes they do over price though.

december 8 2010 my brakes needed to be looked at when my brake light went on.my service advisor recommended my front calipers be replaced. My brake pads and rotors had been replaced at a dealer in september 2010.My PRICE FOR BRAKE CALIPER INSTALLATION WAS OVER $305.00.When I checked out it was $353.00 with shop fees.I was told since my front brake pads did not need to be replaced nor my rotors he would charge me for a complete overhaul totaling over 300 dollars.the final bill was $353.00 for 2 calipers plus shop fees.I PRICED THE CALIPERS FOR MY 1993 HONDA .IT WAS 53.00.I would like a partial refund for such a price mark bradshaw 757-576-****

try to perform unnecessary works

They try to perform unnecessary works in order to make money. They promise to do a complete under the hood inspection just a trick to get you to perform unnecessary works in order to make money. I went there for an inspection and they told me they was a lots of thing wrong with car in fact they ask for a minimum of $ 1200 repair fee before the car can pass the inspection and they charge a $ 1 fee for every check. I took the car and I went to another place they told me they was nothing wrong with the car if the car past the inspection just fine. I think we need to avoid that free complete under the hood inspection at the independence location in Virginia Beach.

Atleast they told you about the inspection. I took my car to them, they told me that they did a full inspection before replacing my timing belt.I went to another mechanic and they found a bolt in the timing belt that was replaced at Kramer.

This place is absolutely HORRIBLE. I will never do business with them again.

I just got an inspection there and they told me the repairs would be over $600. Where did you eventually go that was better?

Dont belive the faulse advertizment

i bought tires from kramer tire in june on my new good year credit card. the advertizment said 0% intrest for 6 months when you use the card. i recived my first statement showing intrest,so i called about it. i was told nothing could be done about the promotion and i would continue to pay the intrest. in five mounths of having the card i have made calls to them on five occasions to deal with some sort of mistake on my account. the customer service was poor. all i have been told was there was nothing they could do, and sorry for the inconvenience. i will never buy or recomend good year for anything again!
